Nyla Olasupo ( Year13 )

NEGATIVES

• More characters would have helped the film. Would have made it more interesting.
• More scenes, different environment, something new not the same old same day to day ordinary scenes – could have been a bit more unique and abstract.
POSITVES
• The funniest thing I ever watched.
• Made complete sense.
• The fact that you completely switched roles with character by turning the bully into a whip and the whim into a bully was just genius – I would have never expected that.
• I would love to watch it at a real cinema, it would just give me pure jokes.

Joshua M.Seki ( Year 6 )

NEGATIVES

• It was bit too dull – no bright colours.
• It was too exciting for me.
• There wasn’t enough fast pace movement.

POSITVES

• It was really, really funny.
• I liked and enjoyed watching it.
• The characters are so stupid which made it even much funnier.
• I could actually relate to it, as I have seen people get bullied in school, but never seen a victim try to get back at the bully, that was just wonderful.

Jermaine M.Seki ( Year 11 )

NEGATIVES

• The actor was a disgrace, he was completely just boring, made the film quit boring, looked like he was being force.
• The shots and camera movement was bit too slow at times – like I yawned a few times just staring at it.
• Sound was alright – but inappropriate at times ( natural sound could have been included make it seem more real and less like a film)

POSITIVES

• Funniest film I have watched created by unproffessionals.
• The pranks was not all that funny, it was simply the reaction OF the pranks that made me personally laugh.
• The whole school theme was just a great idea – made me relate to it much more.
• It’s a bit of a fantasy – a geek becoming a bully – could never happen in reality but the idea of it, is what makes it even funnier.

Sylvia Lealea Year 9 Student

NEGATIVES
• The actor was not enthusiastic enough for the film – he was the main let down.
• Was a bit too quick could have been a bit longer, would have more of an effect.
• Camera shots were not the best sometimes

POSITIVES
• It was extremely funny, I jus couldn’t stop laughing.
• Although the actor was a bit bad – the narrative kind of suited him and made it sort of alright.
• The whole storyline was precise and accurate – I understood the film completely.
• The sound had a lovely great effect too at some occasions

My Comment System

While conducting audience feedback in regards to my film i made sure that i asked a different ages, different people including starngers too. This was because my friends could be a bit too bias and i want as much criticism as possible, therefore i seeked feedback from strangers as they do not know me and do not owe me anything at all.

Secondly, i also asked people of different ages, simply because my film has NO specific age boundary which makes as diverse as possible. But thios can only be possible if people of different ages actually enjoyed my film. So i asked Year 9 stdents, my brothers whom are 15 and 10, my mum who is a much more mature audience and teenagers and kids - so i could recieve some relative yet productive feedback.

In general, by me asking a range of different people i did have an outcome of very diverse comments but in my opininon this helps me alot 0 as it shows that different people capture my film in different ways, which is the beauty of film and images - its all up to the audience to percieve want they want from the film, my role was to produce and direct the film, and make it something good for the audience. The audience can either love it or hate it.

Film Review Second Draft

After havng some relative on my first film review, i decided to include more information to get my point across. This is because, while i was researching more film magazines i realised that they had alot of detail in every single review, and there was no spaces in the reviews. So baring this in mind,i decided to make sure that had relative and in-depth detail in my review.

Also the whole inspiration of my film review cam from Total Film Magazine. I decided to use this magazine as they are very known and a very developed film magazine company. So i decided to go wit this approach.

Also, i liked the way i which their page was alid out, there was an equal amount of text and mages - so it is open to different sets of audiences. For example for those that do not like to read - the more visal people cold just look at my images and get a genereal view of what the fikm is about. Or for those that just want to know if the films worth watching, and not really interesetd in what its about may just look at the ranking of the film - which is whyi have displayed 5 star ratings, so the audience can know if the film is interestig or not. Furthermore, the use of text is also kept to a minimum, i do want people to watch my film, however, i do not want to tell them everything about my film, therwise what will be the point of watching it? Exactly why there is minimal text so it can be more interesting and informative.

Cory In The House Film Poster Analysis

Cory in the house is a TV Episode Series set up by Disney. It is all about, a young boy named Corey that is currently living with his dad (whom is a cheif for the President of the US) in the white house. While living in the white house - the episode plainly just describes Corey's life and all the adventures he comes across on his way.

Firsty, the poster is the most simple poster i personally have seen; however it also speaks alot about the film itself. It is simple as it just a image of Corey and then a image of the whitehouse. Already, the viewers are introduced to the theme of thefilm. We are aware it is goung to be about Corey and has something to do with a whitehouse, also by his cheecky smile we are already aware that he is up to no good, as he smile invites us in, it just shots out something devious 0 which again shouts out to the audience and lurees them in, as they will infactutiated with the secrecy in the film poster which will force them to go and watch it. This is exactly the same element i wish to go for. I want my viewers to look at my poster and feel something mysterious, i want it to be hidden, something they would have to think about - not something plain and obvious like most comedy posters.

Secondly, the mise en scene element used in this poster; colour denotes alot of key emotions. For example the colour blue denotes feeling of happiness, joy, suprise and innocence. This is the colour of the sky , i personally feel they used cklear blue skies purposely to shw the happiness and love that is exhibited within the film. It also could be argued to a certain extent that it represents the love between the other characters within the film. Such as the relationship between Corey and his dad, the Presidents daughter and her dad, i feel that the mise-en-scene element of colour is a metaphor for the love and harmony within the family/film.

Whereas on the other hand, the image of the whitehouse just sets the scene, it makes us aware that the film is going to be centred around the whitehouse. One particular fact about this poster is that it is very simple. It includes little knowledge of the film itself - it such as simple little clues on what "it could be about".

Personally, in my opinion. i feel that this film poster is perfect. This film poster would have been cost efecient, simple yet imaginative. The use of colours is what lure the audience in. However, you can see that the image of the white house was jus placed on image, Corey the main character was not actually holding it - however its audience will not know this; this is what makes it so imaginative.

This poster as actually expanded my knowledge in how to create a successfl film poster. You can have a range of themes on your poster only IF they relate to your film. Such as a horror movie poster such as " Drag Me To Hell" film poster that i have also uploaded.

Unlike Corey in the House - this film poster represents fear, hell, death, blood, anguish. Simply bt using the mise-en-scene element of colour, and by using a woman screaming being pulled by fire representing Hell. Again we are introduced to the mega theme of death - however it does not give any bit of the film away, which is the same theme i am looking for.

My Film Review

I decided to use this film review design, because it attracted me as an individual. It is formal yet interesting at the same time. Unlike the Radio Magazine, that was largely dominated with text, and had little pictures. This is certainly, not the kind of theme i am looking for my audience, it should be something they should be able to relate too. Because not everyone is a literate person, some people are more visual and abstract, whereas some people just enjoy reading. That is why i went with FILM Magazine that included both elements.

FIX UP LOOK HARD FILM POSTER 1

I had a clear vision of my film and wanted it to capture the audience, however at tyhe same time confuse them as well. Thats why i have used a fade and blur effect to make it a little difficult to see who the person in black is. But what the aiudeince does kno i that the person in black uis the antagonist.

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody Analysis Review

The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, is yet another great tv episode series that relates to my film. This film is basically about two young twin brothers that just love to cause chaos within their hotel suite which they live in. It is just an all time family favourite; great for the kids as well as teenagers too.

The setting of the film poster is an hotel suite with green paint. The usual stereotypical image of a hotel suiteis a creamish, gold setting with very much victorian laterns and couches - a very much posh feel. However, this film poster challenges the usual codes and conventions of the "stereotypical" hotel suite, this is because they dont want the usual effect of a hotel suite, they wanted something diferent, odd,m edgy which again is the same connotations as gren, the colour green denotes, edge, guey liquid, boggies, sick, dizziness which is exactly the same theme that is created on set. Aready just by looking at the walls and the ceiling we have been brught into the suite life of zack and cody, whih i think is a great effect.

Secondly, mise-en-scene also plays a huge role in helping the film poster. For example, their costume. The boys Zack and Cody; Zack is wearing a colourfully hooded shirt, whereas, Cody is wearing a blue sweater with a smart shirt inside it. This already introduces us into their chgaracters. It coukd be denoted by Cody's costume he is the much more intellectual, relaxed, diciplined and good respectable brother, whereas Zack on the other hand, is the more chilled, laid-back, troublesome, funny brother. However, in my own opnion i feel that the colour of Zacks costume excluding the yellow does not really represent his character very well, this is one flaw that i have with this poster, to rectify this however, i would have chosen a more colourful t-shirt for him to wear like red something that could stand out. However, it could be argued the reasons in why Zack is wearing grey and yellow, is because grey denotes a more of a boyish colour, its a jaixtaposition of two colours. Yellow denotes; excitment, adventure, happiness, summer and just a genral happy feeling whereas grey on the ther hand is more; sad, sorrowful but dirty, gloomy, angry which in a sense does represent his character. Codey on the other hand his blyue sweatshirt denotes features of a girl, relaxed, simple, happy it is a boy colour however in modern day it is usually worn on her girls. Also Codey's costume is ironed and very straight/neat this represents his character too, it denotes him as a very calm, clean and considerate individual as the stereotypical view of boys is that they do not bother to iron/wash their clothes, however Codey's character clearly challenges this. Whereas, Zack's costume is more scruffy and dirty, which just proves the stereotypical view of most boys, their masculinty that shows that they dont need to take care of what their wear.

Thirdly, the mise-en-scene element of facial expressions. Mr.Moseby (black man in suit) has a more serious and diciplinary face, it could be denoted that he is more angry, hostile and a strict individual, even though he is swinging on a hotel lobby trolly, he still has the seriousness on his face unlike the rest of the peole on the trolley. His behavious and character profile connotes with his costume colours, he is wearing a dark grey suite which denotes, boredom, old age, dull, boyish and just not exciting. Also by him wearing a suit he could be the hotel manager also by the sense of seriousness on his face he looks like the hotel manager.

Leading on, in my own opinion the use of the three other characters in the film poster is completly unnecessary - i do not feel that they needed in the poster, they are just seen as extras and have no real value or contribution to the poster. Maybe this is also because i have watched the film and i have seen their roles which is not as important as the main three which i have mentiones. By the producers using them in the film poster makes me aware, that not everyone in my film has to be captured in the film poster - otherwise what would be the significance of the film, if all the characters have been introduced through the poster?

Lastly, the paper that has writing on it saying "Suite Life of Zack and Codey",just clearly illustrates it is a film made for the family and young kids just because of the choice of text and text colour. It makes it more appealable for young kids, and also because it just brings around the usual comedy element, that the boys have stuck on the screen their names, as if its their room, which makes it unique.

Phineas And Ferb Analysis Review

`
Phineas and Ferb is a very funny family film for all ages of the family. I understand this because my baby brother whom is now 11years of age enjoys watching it, and sometimes when i have nothing to do either i decide to watch it with him too. It is very funny and applies to each age range.

Phineas and Ferb is about two young boys that are on their summer holiday and have nothing better to do with their time, so they decide to create things at the excitement at their backyard while annoying their sister at the same time. What links this film to my firm to my film is that they are creating experiments and simply just having fun but at the expense of Candice (their older sister) purposely or coincidental. Which is just the same theme as our film - Harry purposely sets up pranks for Jack just or the fun of it and to get back at him. To a certain extent it could be argued that Candice and Harry are exactly the same characters although Harry is the antagonist in our film and Candice is the protagonist in Phineas and Ferb. This is because, Candice is fed-up with Phineas and Ferb never getting caught for what they create and she always ends up looking as the bad and foolish one for all the accusations she makes against her brothers, so bearing this in my mind she seeks "revenge" to get back at her brothers by calling her mum up to catch her brothers out.
Which is the exactly the same as Harry - Harry is fed-up with being picked on by Jack and so seeks avengence for himself by setting up pranks for Jack which successfully goes to plan.

The poster however, is just so lovely to look out, it captures the audience. This is through the use of colours. Colours speak alot to its audience and in this speific film the audience that is being targeted here are young kids and families. Therefore, they had to use colours that they knew would lure their audience in. So the used the colour yellow - yellow denotes summer, fun , happiness, young age, adventure, excitment. The yellow connotations in relation to this film is just happiness and enjoying summer which is exactly what the are dong. However, they also use the colour red, which denotes death, promiscuity, anger, hatred but love at the same time; its a juxtaposition of colours. This could be used to represent Candice as Candice character is very impatient, angry aggressive and selfish but at the same time still a loving sister. Therefore, by combining both colours it paints a different and unrealistic image of the film, as it confuses the audience - however this is not always a bad thing; as it is targeted to kids and the family so it kind of drags the audience in and makes them inquisitive to what the film is actually about.

Secondly, the mise-en-scene elements are also a vital element of this poster, such as the use of body language. The movement of the character in the poster is a very important feature of the entire poster. This is because the two younger brothers are literally just dancing to themselves, Ferb's on the floor with a guitar pretending his a rock star; which just clearly illustrates the small mind he has - he is a kid and his character has to represent gis childish features - adults will never act in this same manner, it it just little children that will be on the floor pretending to be something that their not because its their imagination, this is what lures the kids in, they want to watrch a film that they can relate to not necessarily hae to understand it but just relate to it.
Also, Phineas is on the floor too but not dancing as much as Ferb, he is simply just doing hand gestures to introduce the film, so just through this it could be argued that Phineas is the more authoritative character out of the two brothers as Phineas is more relaxed than his half brother Ferb.
Whereas, Candice is more hostile and angry, you can see just through her body position. She is standing with her hands on her waist, just a typical "mother" position, however by her costume connotes a young girl and not a mother figure. She is also not looking at the camera or the cameras direction, she is looking at something outside of the frame and is just not interested in the setting that she is. Again we have been introduced into another character and her personality just through the mise-e-scene it represents Candice as the uninterested type of character however at the same time a very angry and hostile individual which are te connotations of red which she is wearing with a mixture of white which could be argued that she is trying to be a good person but still has that natural bad streak.

Finally, the Phineas and Ferb Film poster may not be the best film poster that I've seen, but it does relate to their film and it does target its audience. And that's going to be the exact same type of theme that i am gong for, i want my film poster to target my target audience which is mainly everyone as it is targeted to all genres of the family. However, although i want it to target my audience i dont want it to give too many ideas away about my film. Reason why i feel that this poster relates most to my film

HOME ALONE 2 FILM POSTER ANALYSIS

Home Alone is the one film that truely relates to "Fix Up, Look Hard". This is because the whole plot of the film, is a little boy "Richard" gaining confidence and over powering the antagonists.

The film is filled with comedy and laughter all throughout simplty because of the pranks. The pranks and jokes that Richard plays on the antagonists is what makes the film so funny. How can a little 10 year old boy be schooling grown adults - a complete role reversal. Just like in my film the Harry the nerd plays pranks on the school bully - which clearly goes beyond the stereotype of a school nerd. Ths is why i thought to myself that Home Alone will be he best fim to seek ideas from.

Moving on, the film poster kind of introduces the setting as the antagonists are behind a skyscraper lurking out to see Richard. While the protagnist Richard is just sitting down reading newspaper as young as he is. Again that brings in the comedy element. Richard sitting down infront of a skyscraper with a newspaper in his hands while looking at the camera with a cheecky smile. It has the comedy element o it.

Just through the poster we are introduced the narrative of the film. The audience could guess the film will be about those two antagonists behind the skyscraper trying to kidnapp the boy for money. This is because as they little kid is sitting right infront of the skyscraper it may denote that his parents or family owns it, while he is also reading a newspaper it shows he has very good intellectual skills and maybe somebody from the higher class due to his costume. However, it brings along that comedy element, due to that cheecky liuttle smile he has on his face, which kind of invites the audience in, the little smurk lures us in as we want to know, does Richard know if the two antagonists are behind him, is it a trap? All these questions racing through the audiences mindjust through pne still image.

Also, the colours used in the poster is dark blue which denotes, gloominess, hostility, worries and probably something bad that is going to happen. Dark blue is the colour of the clouds, this may represent

Problems And Difficulties

While in the making of our film we had faced a number of difficulties and challenges as the gap from AS Opening sequence to A2 Film Production is indeed very massive demmanding

Firstly, our first problem was our shots. Due to the lack of equipment the shots we had hoped to use were not advisable as it will look amuture. Such shots like "depth of view" which i had hoped to use for Harry when looking at the poster just to show the reflection from the poster on to his eyes. But this was unattainable due to lighting so we had change it to something different yet imaginative but also duable.

Secondly, another problem was our cast (Edward Obeng). Our cast simply did not know how to acvt and so was very distraught to do so. Therefore, we had to literally force him to do things he would not want to do.

Script For Our Film

Scene 1: Opening Bedroom

It is morning and our main character HARRY is getting ready for school. We show the alarm clock goes off and his hand pressing the clocks, then we show our character getting ready for college. Through is costume the audience will be able to detect that he is most likely a “geek” as his costume represents the stereotypical image of nerds e.g. ties, braces and dotted shirts.
The identity of our character is kept a mystery as we do not show or reveal his face – all the audience can see is his costume and body. (Soundtrack). Then we switch location and HARRY is on his way to school, we do not show his journey – all we show is the school playground via an establishing shot. While HARRY is walking through the playground he then trips over his shoelaces – this then gains attention from his bullies as the camera focuses on them.
All in all HARRY finally enters the building and walks into class with a gloomy look. A few minutes later we see other footsteps rushing in to class. Then the door slams to represent that class has started and we show the school bell ringing which indicates that school has started.

Scene 2: MEDIA BLOCK

Suddenly, we see our protagonist run out of class in a fright, and straight after him we see the two bullies which the audience was introduced to in the beginning catch up with him. They then grab him up against the wall and pour water all down his hair and mess it up (they then peanut him and do other bullying-like things) then walk away jokily.
HARRY is upset and emotional over this trauma he has just experimented so goes off to apply for community service as he has no friends to confide in him. (Present this by a hand giving him the “community service” card)
As HARRY is doing his community service he begins to draw and include all the terrible things that have ever occurred in his life.
As HARRY is drawing the only things that he seems to draw are in regards to JACK, with this thought he gets frustrated and pushes a chair into the cupboard without thought. Exactly soon after this happens everything on top of the cupboard falls unto the floor.

Scene 3: Media Office

Coincidently a magazine about pranks and jokes falls down on to the table that HARRY is sitting on
HARRY then reminisces what happened to him earlier this morning with JACK and gets angry, he then looks down and sees the magazine which is filled with pranks and jokes.
Harry then turns to audience (camera) and has a smirk on his face to show he has an idea.

Scene 4:

Later on, on that day HARRY begins to go through the magazine and sees all the funny pranks that are included in the magazine.
In relation to this HARRY then hatches a cunning plan to seek revenge on JACK by producing a series of pranks. HARRY then lists the pranks as followed:
Puts Superglue on the chair that JACK will be sitting on.
Slippery liquid outside floor of classroom, so when JACK finally gets of his chair he will fall over).
Place clear tape across the outside of a door from top to bottom
He then runs out frantically through the classroom (media room) corridor.

Scene 5

The next day HARRY comes into school, with a new personality. JACK is still very angry with what happened to him yesterday and happy slaps HARRY to gain his authority back.
But HARRY does not take it lightly, when JACK turns around HARRY pushes him down to the floor, giving JACK the macho look, and we now see the reverse of character personality - now HARRY has found his identity, and as he walks off JACK is left on the floor representing him as the weaker character and HARRY gaining status.

The narrative of this film in my opinion was the greatest out of all of them. This is because it was the simple story - maid having affair with her boss then fails pregnant, goes to abort it but pretends then pretends about the entire thing, she was never pregnant and runs away with the families money. It seems complicated but it is definitely original as the stereotypical view of maids is that they have no backbone an not a mind of their own, but in this short film they completely turned the tables on this character and made her seem like a weakling but she was really the protagonist all along. This is what i will bare in mind while making my film - ensure that things do not seem to obvious, this is because once your audience knows what is about to happen, that is when you have lost them and lost their interest.

Moving on, the use of camera was definitely a very good element in this film - this is the only film i can say that had good shots and good narrative, the only one i enjoyed out of the lot. The camera had a variety of shots from close up to maids face,m from a long shot of little boy in his bed sleeping, establishing shots of the train station, high angles, low angles, they used as many shots as possible and very appropriately.

JOB STREET

The narrative of this film to me had a purpose and meaning but i personally found it boring, i have watched a lot of films on racism and immigration this film did not challenge the codes and conventions of film, therefore in my books it failed. This is a good example - of how i do NOT want my film to turn out, it was exciting - yes, but i did not get the message and it was not original.

However, unlike STRIPES this film had a diverse of shots in it, which really helped myself to get into the film - even though i did not enjoy it or understand the narrative, the shots still kept me engaged. Their shots were very powerful, one that i really liked was of the one with the black guy coming home to his wife, through the glass window - i just felt it was a strong shot simply because the window were broken and that could represent his life, his an immigrant that has just stabbed his friend, then the shot reverse shot to his wife, was just like the reversal of personalities. The wife is calm and loving, sweet, whereas he is brutal, confused and angry.

Also, i had noticed that the weather usually corresponded with the mood for example, while it was raining when the black guy was stabbing his friend. The weather was angry, restless and disturbed which are all the same characteristics with the black guy.

STRIPES

STRIPES is a great short film for color and lighting. This is because i just found it amazing how they did their lighting, the setting was completely white, yet they were still able to give a blurry and mysterious effect, which is great, and it was very effective.
Also the colors used was also very interesting, they used blueish, whitish lighting, not just the ordinary conventional colors that we are all used to seeing like black - for mystery and white - for a suprisement, they decided to make it original; this is what made it just spectacular to look at, and kept myself and the entire class engaged.

Another positive of this film was the narrative, the narrative was a simple idea - a kid getting bullied and seeks revenge . . . 10 years later, that was the twist. This is one key thing i have to have in my mind while creating my own film - i have to be very original - i have never watched a film about a man that seeks revenge for getting bullied 10 years down the line - it is original, a simple idea but with a terrific twist!
Also the film was shot in one room, that is also what stood out to me, the film was like 10mins long, however, it was set in a room not even a house like the others, it was set in a single room and still had a massive effect.

However, although it had a great narrative and great lighting, the shots that were taken was very, very weak! All that i was seeing was close-up's, mid-shots and over the shoulder shots, they did not present their technical ability very well at all, it seemed basic, but because of the use of lighting (at times not even necessary) it made it look average.

If i was to base this film on narrative it will get a 6/10 but if i was to base it just on the technical aspects - they failed tremendously.

TREATMENT - AA&Co Productions

Treatment
(Locked in My Mind)

Tag-Line (There are many things you can escape, but your mind is not one of them.)

The main character JERMAINE dumps his girlfriend SHABNAM in front of the entire class; however what he does not know is that this girl placed a curse on him. Leading on to the main bulk of the film when the curse unravels on him – while he is all alone in the empty, deserted locker room – with no way of getting out, this is when the horrors of the curse begin, he struggles, he fights, but is there anyway of getting out of this? Maybe it’s just all a figure of his imagination.

Beginning:

• JERMAINE was walking through the corridors with two of his friend’s one by his left and another by his right. Meanwhile his apparent “girlfriend” was also walking in the same direction towards him with her friends too. SHABNAM ( is a very strict and very passionate with her culture – therefore her costume must correspond with her nature)
• Finally, JERMAINE dumps SHABNAM in a very harsh way almost making a joke out of their relationship, and leaves her on her knees begging him to take her back.
• But instead he just pushes her face down and walks away – making her look like a fool in front of her friends that were laughing at her..
• In anger and annoyance, she curses him Arabic, while no else can hear.

Middle:

• After JERMAINE successfully dumps his girlfriend SHABNAM in front of the class and his “boys”, he and his friends then make their way down to the gym – however, JERMAINE forgot his gym bag in the PE locker room – so he makes his way to the locker room departs from his friends, so he can get it and then meet up later.
• While JERMAINE is in the deserted locker room the door automatically locks behind him but makes no sound whatsoever, so JERMAINE continues walking – unaware of the dangers that wait before him.
• As JERMAINE goes deeper and deeper into the locker room, he realises that his possessions are on the floor and one by one they lead to the showers, as he walks the tension builds and so does the sound. By the time he picks up his shorts the showers turn on in an almost erythematic approach, the closer he gets, the much harder the water pouts down as long with the sound.
• When he finally opens the curtains he sees his ex girlfriend SHABNAM with run down eyeliner and mascara, repeating the curse she said in the beginning (with a knife in her hand).
• He quickly runs away to get out – but the door is locked, his banging his screaming in fear and looks back and sees nothing.
• The showers have stopped and the sound is neutral, with this JERMAINE turns around completely and sees a hanging rope still, right in front of his face.
• And then underneath there is a blood trail, JERMAINE follows it in fear and then he sees the writing on the wall in blood saying “BLAH BLAH BLAH!”

ENDING:

• JERMAINE then gets dizzy and sweaty, and sits down on the bench, and tries to understand what is going on, but his losing consciousness.
• He then sits up straight and fixes up, but then he can feel a strong shadow over him, and smell of a very bad breath, he slowly looks up scared of what his about to see – and sees nothing, he breathes out and gets up shaking all his nerves off, turns round and BOOM there’s SHABNAM with a big teddy bear in her arm saying I love you.
• JERMAINE screams bewilderedly, and then the film rewinds all the way back into the beginning to when JERMAINE was about to leave his friends.
• JERMAINE decides not to go into the changing room as he realises it was all just a figure of his imagination – his friends calm him down and loosen him up.
• And when the film is just about to end PATRICK, JERMAINES best friend’s eye has one white contact in it – and winks at the camera then turns into SHABNAM.

Our story is simple in my eyes as it’s just the typical break up story of a guy who dumps girl in front of the entire class – and only went out with her for a joke. In relation to that, the EX decides to get her own back and curses JERMAINE. Which he then later experiences in the locker room – she plays with his mind, everything may seem like reality – but in actual truth it’s simply all in his imagination. But, at the end his nightmare unravels into reality when SHABNAM possess PATRICK’s body.

What have you learnt about when these shorts were made?

I have learn that the majority of the shorts were made on not so much money, in fact some even used just 65 just to make the film, this proves in order to make a good movie, it does not necessarily have to cost as much. However, in my eyes to make a successful movie it should be a bit costly, as it would gain full recognition via the press. Such as Slumdog Millionaire, they spent over a thousand on just online marketing, which gained them a massive audience, and also improved their profit, whereas short films will not gain as much recognition.

However, one thing i did learn from short films, is that they capture a lot more original shots.

How is the Directors style shown? Is it still the same?

The director's styles vary from film to film, they just don't stick to one genre - and i think for a director to be successful they should just not be known for a particular genre - otherwise they will not be as publicized and known as all the rest.
For example, James Cameron is a prime example of such, his great "Titanic" was more of a romance movie which opened up to a big wide audience and brought in millions. However, although it was a successful romantic movie, that did not mean it had to stick with that same genre. Ten years on he created AVATAR which was the complete reverse of TITANIC it was sci-fi, fantasy, adventure and some could argue romance but i personally would disagree. Although it was not as successful as the GREAT TITANIC it was still a very big hit!

Close up of Amelie

This shot is very plain and simple, and exactly why i like it. This is the first clear shot we ever see of Amelia grown up - and it its just very sharp and gives a clear image of her face. Her facial expression is light, easy, simple with a little bit of sexy because of the red lipstick, as the connotations of red are seductive, prerogative and mysterious, also her black hair just adds a little bit more mystery to it as well.

Nevertheless this image is another example of the gloominess in the background, they make the background weary so the audience will not focus on the main charcater at the person in the centre of the frame.

Father

This shot is a medium long shot. It also could be seen as an establishing shot, as it shows/sets the setting. This shot in my words is original, i must say that i have never come upon any kind of shot like this. Father is wearing white which is a cliche as most fathers are usually wearing black. But anyway, the main reason in why i am in love with this image is because of the lighting and color. The foreground is brownish and bright, which i think they did purposely, to show and emphasize the innocence of a Father. But then as it leads in to the church - all you can see is darkness which denotes danger, death, anger generally just negative.

Low Shot of Mother Amanda

This shot to me is very significant as it crops out everything else around the scene and just focuses on the mother's face and emotions. Although a tourist is just about die, the camera doesn't seem to care, and gives a more in-proportional effect to the camera so we can see Amanda's face.

I love this picture simply because it cuts everyone in the frame out, and just concentrates on Amanda, and it reminds me of some famous painter, that used a mix of color to add a gloomy effect yet to also keep the main effect on the character not anything else, which is exactly the camera did with Amanda.

Sky Window

This image is taken from a left angle, I'm not really sure in why i had actually taken this image, but i think its just so beautiful.
This is because in the way you can see the sky, then you see whiteness "blankness" then even further you just see black. It just different.
But, the shapes in the frame are lovely, there's a mix of triangles and circles, which is a juxtaposition - but its just beautiful.

Within a movie genre i would probably place it within the fantasy genre - simply because of the sky, and because is just something different and something you will probably not expect in our world - exactly the reason why it would look good within the fantasy genre.

Going Down?

This image is also nothing special at all, but i love it because of the lighting. As you can see it is sort of bright but there is some sort of shade also blocking the light (that shade being my shadow), it kind of gives it that weary effect, which would of been more effective at night, but is still a good effect anyhow.

This shot would be good for a horror genre kind of movie - as i can simply imagine a girl below the stairs begging for someone to let her free or something along those terms but we will not be able to see the persons face or body - all we will be able to see is their shadow and it crowding in on her.

Separation of Glue

This is definitely not one of my most interesting photos like the other, however, it is one of my meaningful photos.
I had intentionally separated the two pots of glue, to make a separation of the two objects. One day in class our class teacher had taught us that one single line could separate two people that are standing/sitting right next to one another. This was the sort effect that i was looking for.
Although, you cannot see the entire image of the two objects, it is good enough for you to see that they are separated or that they are opposing one another, which was the exact theme i was going for.
This sort of image could be used in all sorts of genres and films, crime, family dramas, romantic comedy and the list continues.

Red & White Squares

This is by far not one of my best shots, however, it is one that displays a lot. For example, the shapes, color and lighting within this shot is extraordinary, in the way the shapes are formed and placed on the wall like in some sort of unrehearsed order, makes it even more unique. Leading on towards the lighting makes it even more interesting, as the it gets lighter from left to right and vice versa. Also the color of the shapes is red, whereas the color of the wall is creamish and white. The connotations of red is "sin, danger, anger, love and sex". Whereas, the color of white is the complete opposite, white has the connotations of "purity, innocence, clean". This even adds to the effect of uniqueness by bringing such opposite colors together and making them one.

Lastly, in which sort of film genre will i place this image in, probably a sci-fi film, simply because of the squares but i am not to sure.

BALANCE

This image displays lighting and good use of angles. As i took this image from an low angle and from the left it gave it a very powerful position in seeing the different shapes and lighting.
I love this hot simply because its different - and its just a simple shot of a corridor yet so much is captured. For example the shapes that can be seen are very different, some are oval and some are square, such as the box which is square, and opposite from all the other oval images.

Im not sure in what sort of genre i would classify this image, actually if anything it would probably be in adventure, such as a CSI scene or something.

SECRETS

Tag Line - 5 friends. 1 Secret. No Way Out.

Group of 5 girls who killed their friend Lisa. However, this story is told through a dream.
The story is introduced in Esther's bedroom (which should be pink) and just one girl on the bed reading a magazine another looking at herself in the mirror and then two dancing to music and just joking about. But then Lisa accidentally pushes ViviKa then ViviKa pushes her back and before you know it an argument begins between them both and they start a fight. But ViviKa gets extraordinarily out of control and gets a lamp and smacks it on Lisa's head, then she automatically drops to the floor and you can see the blood spill, the scream they shout and ViviKa just stands there with the lamp in her hand, Sooner or later they decide to drop her body in the basement while their still crying and lock up. They go back up to the bedroom and clear up and decide not to tell anyone and keep it a secret. Then when they are about to leave the house to go out to a party they hear a scream and they look back and see Lisa then they awake from the dream - by this time i will use an edit effect to split the screen into four cuts so we can see all their facial expressions. Then they turn to left and there's Lisa with the lamp and it ends with a scream.

Two Can Play That Game

Two Can play That Game is a very late film which was made in the early 90's. However, even though i was not alive when this film was created this is still a lovely heart-warming movie to watch.

It could be classified as a documentary type of film - but its simply the characters documentary. It is a about a woman named Shante that is trying to teach fellow women on how to keep their man with herself as the example.

This film will most definitely be targeted at a more niche audience as it is more relevant to women and more likely black women as it was created and based in the southern side of America.

The reason in which i like this film so much and why its apart of my top 5 is because its one of the most simplest film ideas that i have ever watched. Just about one woman teaching her boyfriend 7 lessons and we are taken through the lessons with her.

Bad Boys 1 & 2 and soon to come 3

Bad Boys is another great movie sequel that i enjoy its just so thrilling and adventurous and keeps you engaged for the entire time, There is not one time in the movie when you want to take your eyes of the screen for a single second. This is not only because of the cinematography its also because of the sound the actors and just the plot. The audience never know if a film is going to be good they just see it because of how it looks and not HOW it sounds, So in order for me to achieve the best grade in my A2 i need to engage and immediately attract my audience through what they see on the screen (cinematography) this may be exceptionally hard, but all i need to do is have a simple idea and execution it well and I've succeeded.

Such as in Bad Boys the use of mise en scene was just fantastic, the colors of the explosives the drugs mixed and combined with the lighting was just extraordinary. This is because their plot and story was just simple and nothing special to it at all. It was just two cops tracking down some Russian Mafia's that were selling drugs - simple! however, the way in which the cinematographer made it look was just beautiful and amazing which made the viewers eyes glued to the cinema screen.

This is definitely one effect that i want my audience to have - therefore there is no need of words or sound if the mise en scene element and lighting is used correctly my coursework could be perfect!

Barbershop 1 & 2

This is one of my favorite movies simply because i just love comedy!
It has a range of stars in it from Eve to Ice Cube and one most America's most famous stars Cedric the Entertainer. He is one of the actors that i absolute enjoy watching has he is just so energetic and very interesting to watch and relate too.

Barbershop 1 is about the main character Calvin (Ice Cube) is a struggling father trying to bring up his family while handling a worthless barbershop he inherited from his late father. The twist of the film is that he sales the shop to the town villain Lester Wallace (Keith David). Whom mislead Calvin before signing the contract over him. However at the end of the day everything was resolved - the barbershop was out of debt after gaining a reward for returning a cash machine which was stolen by some dumb thieves. All in all it was just great. A great comedy and family film.

This is the kind off effect i want my audience to feel when i make my own film - even if its for 5mins and with no sound or word i want them to feel the fun and excitement i felt.

Everydays The Same

Tag - Line: Everyone has a secret

Pitch - My short film will be based on a girl whose name is Cassie. Cassie is a Year 12 Girl whom is experiencing bullying. This is different because usually by the age of 16/17 bullying usually ends, however with Cassie it just begins.

Treatment - We are introduced to Cassie in a classroom by herself reading books and just enjoy her time by herself, then bring out a picture of her mum, whom has passed away, and then tears fill her eyes. Then I will switch to outside the classroom and see someone's feet in boots walking very hastily and angry towards the classroom, then I’ll switch back to Cassie and realise she has fled top the bathroom to throw up - as that’s the only way to release the pain of her mom's tragic death. (Somewhere, somehow I will try to include a quick flashback to Cassies's life with her mom and how she died in a car crash and screams and sirens).
Then we will have a close up of Cassies's face and see the ultimate tears in her eyes and she runs out the room.

Then “THE BULLY” arrives to the classroom and sees the chair swinging yet no Cassie, after hearing groans from the girls bathroom “THE BULLY” goes to the toilets. Then we Cassie on her knees throwing up then she is suddenly pulled back by her hair and dragged across the toilet floor (all the audience can see is her facial expressions) and her plea for the girl to stop the music will be up beat and tension.

Finally "THE BULLY" leaves her alone and pushes her to the floor into the corner and then suddenly three other people appear, we can still not see the identities of the bullies all we can see is the shadow and the fear in Cassie's eyes – which I then zoom out to the edge of “THE BULLY” hands

Never Know Your Name

Tag Line - Hate That I Love You

Pitch - Basic love story of "boy loves girl" and "girl loves boy". However this is with a twist as they are ultimate strangers to one another.

Treatment - Firstly Lizzy is a teenager in college (just the usual stereotypical average teenager) who really just cares about her friends, family, fashion and her “mysterious boyfriend” whom she has never ever spoken to in her life. Likewise with Jamie it is the same scenario he is also the normal stereotypical view of a male teenager whom is just concerned about football, friends, PS3 and his “mysterious girlfriend”.

So I will introduce the scene in the school girls toilets to show Lizzy getting ready applying her make-up using a mid-shot through the mirror so we can see her face and then use a panning shot to show the setting. Then we swiftly transit to the boys locker room via a pan to show Jamie getting ready for college too.

Then I will switch back to Lizzy and show her getting ready to lave the bathroom and she walks through the hallways – then switch back to Jamie as he walks through the corridors while the music is building up the tension rises. Then suddenly Lizzy receives a phone call and all we can see are her facial expressions ( you will not be able to figure out what she is saying all the audience will know is that she is angry and shocked). Then suddenly Jamie receives another phone-call from a private number and the camera will zoom in to a medium close-up and we can see his reaction which is completely different from Lizzy’s his expressions are more frightened, scared, worried ( this is switch of “stereotypical characteristics) then he starts to run, and Lizzy is walking with an attitude. Then finally they bump into one another, Lizzy with tears in her eyes and a photo in her hand and Jamie with the same photo, they put it up together and they realise. . .

Mauro Fiore - CINEMATOGRAPHERS

In tribute to the film's groundbreaking visuals -- a combination of live-action and computer-generated images -- the award for cinematography went to Mauro Fiore for his work on director James Cameron's "Avatar." The film was shot using high-definition digital cameras and a system for creating 3-D effects invented specifically for the film.

"I want to thank the academy for this unbelievable honor," said the 45-year-old Italian-born Fiore, who received his first Oscar nomination for "Avatar." He then referred to Cameron as a "visionary."

Backstage, Fiore said the "Avatar" victory marked "the first time a film has won that has so much computer-generated imagery and live-action together, so this is a huge revolution for the industry."

Mr.Bean

Comedy - Mr.Bean is a also a silent movie which is targeted toward all members of the public and is not ethnocentric.Such as it is centred people of a particular age like from 16-21's neither is is gender specific, like movies like "Too Fast Too Furious". It is opened to everyone.
This is was made Mr.Bean very successful, as it had no target age, no target gender or and no target audience, which made it opened to all areas of the public. Which is what i am planning to do with my film. As i want my short film to be acceptable for all media audiences (kids, teens, adults, senior citizens)
Also Mr.Bean was only half an hour long, yet had a massive effect on the consumers. Therefore, although my movie is only going to be 5mins long i can still make a very innovative and unique film.
However, the genre of my film is yet to be confirmed as i still have not fully thought about it yet. But, comedy doe seem like the easiest way to go - moreover, it is attractive to most audiences, but i am not looking for the easiest way i am looking for an original way. But Mr.Bean is spectacular and this theme and genre will certainly be one of my choices.
